Report from Kangerlussuaq and pictures from the expedition

From Iceland to Greenland

We had an excellent stay in Reykjavik thanks to our icelandic friends (greetings to Kolbeinn, Thomas and Josef). Early today we arrived at the small airport in Reykjavik centre. Both we and another greenlandexpedition were leaving with the same plane, so there were a lot of luggage, maybe to much. AirIceland fixed it by rotating another flight to Constable Pynt with cargo, so our ski's and pulkas should get onboard. After getting in the air - and back down again to remove a safety pin, we flew to Constable Pynt far northeast on Greenland. Then we flew to Kulusuk. The weather was great, clear sky, sun and a spectacular view over the ice, fjords, mountains and valleys. All of us really enjoyed the flight!

In the airport in Kulusuk there was a lot of activity and really the feeling of summer. After a while we got checked in our luggage again and boarded the Bell 212 helicopter from Air Greenland. The pilots made the helicopter cruise low over the terrain as we all admired the beautifull view. What a great day!

Tasiilaq
At the heliport we were greated by Per from hotel Angmagssilak whom then drove us to the hotell. He did also get all of our post packages, so now we have all the equipment we need. We were really charmed by the small town of Tasiilaq and have enjoyed a calm evening her.

Tomorrow we are going to prepare our equipment. On Monday morning we get som things in the local stores before we in the afternoon leave by helicopter to the village Isortoq. The first day of our expedition we will be joined by a local inuitt with a dog sledge.

The weather forcast provied by Mads Christensen contains clear and sunny days ahead for some time.

Greetings from Thomas og Ragnar who is both quite tired now sitting in an internet cafe
Øystein, Maria, Kristine and Inger cheers!
